J. Srividya is among few artists who has explored the the modern art from a spiritual perspective, adding a new dimension to the human perception of cosmic consciousness. As an artist he is he is extraordinarily versatile and has worked in diverse mediums, size and techniques.
Just like a spiritual master Srividya uses the traditional wisdom of spiritual consciousness combined with his inner experiences to create a mystical images of form and geometry coupled with rich textures and vibrant colors. Srividya aims to blur the line of inner experience of reality with outer expression of cosmic manifestation.
With more than 50 years of sole devotion towards art and spiritualism, his paintings are a vibrant example of the realm of inner consciousness.
He studied art and graduated from Madras School of Arts with a First class Diploma in Advanced Painting. For more than 12 years he served as an Art Designer for the Ministry of Textile Government of India, All India Handloom Board at Indore.
Soon after he left his job as a designer and devoted his entire life towards Arts and his inner calling.
During these past 50 years Srividya has won several awards and prizes.
Most notably he won the prestigious National Award for Painting organized by the Lalit Kala Academy- the National Academy for the Arts, India, was awarded by then the President of India Dr Rajendra Prasad (1958-59).
He won the Art Fellowship by the Government of India for two years, was also a scholar for further studies in Advanced painting 1960-61 and was awarded the Italian Government Fellowships and studied at the L' Accademia de Belle Arti Firenze (started by Michael Angelo) Italy in 1962-63.
He regularly participated for more than 13 years at the International Art fair at Basel the famous of all art fairs every year. International Graphic art shows in Sweden, Switzerland, Philippines, Art shows of Bussan Biennale, Korea and Tokyo Biennale, Japan and Olympic Games Korea.
Srividya lives in Pune India and travels frequently to USA where he meditates and paints.
